Guatemala Coffee

Silky, Vibrant and Beautifully Balanced

Discover the distinctive character of Guatemalan coffee with Chester’s Coffee Roasters. Full-bodied and silky, this carefully selected Arabica coffee combines lively acidity with inviting notes of orange, milk chocolate and biscuit.

The coffee comes from Huehuetenango, one of Guatemala’s celebrated coffee-growing regions. Cultivated at approximately 1,350 metres above sea level, it brings together Typica, Bourbon, Caturra and Catuaí varieties grown by four regional coffee farmers.

Washed processing gives the finished cup impressive clarity, allowing its bright citrus character, creamy chocolate sweetness and smooth biscuit finish to shine.

A Guatemalan Coffee Full of Character

Guatemalan coffee is known for combining rich body with bright, vibrant flavours. This coffee offers a particularly satisfying balance, beginning with lively orange notes before developing into smooth milk chocolate and a gently sweet biscuit finish.

Its full body creates a rich and comforting cup, while its silky texture keeps the coffee refined and easy to drink.

The lively acidity adds freshness without overpowering the sweeter flavours, producing a coffee that feels both vibrant and beautifully rounded.

Grown in Huehuetenango

This coffee comes from Huehuetenango, a mountainous coffee-growing region in Guatemala. It is cultivated at approximately 1,350 metres above sea level by four regional farmers.

Growing coffee at this elevation allows the cherries to mature steadily, helping the beans develop greater sweetness, density and flavour complexity.

Typica, Bourbon, Caturra and Catuaí Arabica varieties are brought together to create a regional coffee that reflects the distinctive character of Huehuetenango.

Guatemalan coffee is an excellent choice if you enjoy a full-bodied cup that balances chocolate sweetness with a brighter citrus character.

The combination of orange, milk chocolate and biscuit creates a layered yet approachable flavour. Its silky texture and lively acidity make it equally enjoyable as a morning coffee or a more indulgent afternoon brew.

You’ll enjoy this Guatemalan coffee if you prefer:

  • A full-bodied, silky coffee
  • Bright orange flavour notes
  • Smooth milk-chocolate sweetness
  • A gentle biscuit finish
  • Lively, refreshing acidity
  • A rich coffee that remains clean and balanced
  • A versatile roast that works with or without milk

A subtle biscuit flavour adds warmth and sweetness to the finish.

Lively Acidity

Bright acidity lifts the richer flavours and gives the coffee its vibrant, balanced character.

What Does SHB EP Mean?

This Guatemalan coffee is graded SHB EP.

SHB means Strictly Hard Bean. This grading is generally associated with coffee cultivated at higher elevations, where cooler conditions allow the cherries to mature more gradually. This slower development can produce denser beans with greater sweetness and flavour complexity.

EP means European Preparation. It indicates that the green coffee has been carefully prepared and sorted to remove a high proportion of defects before export.

Together, these classifications reflect the care taken in selecting and preparing the coffee.

From Huehuetenango to Your Cup

The journey begins in the mountains of Huehuetenango, where four farmers cultivate Typica, Bourbon, Caturra and Catuaí coffee at approximately 1,350 metres above sea level.

After harvesting, the coffee is washed, carefully prepared and sorted to meet its SHB EP grade. Once it arrives at Chester’s Coffee Roasters, the beans are roasted to reveal their full body, silky texture and vibrant flavour.

The finished cup brings together lively orange, creamy milk chocolate and warm biscuit notes—an expressive Guatemalan coffee with exceptional balance and character.
